Daily Spa Routine – A Structured Day with Many Highlights

Days start early in Bad Mitterndorf. My first treatment was always scheduled for 6:30 or 7:00 a.m. Afterwards, I’d go straight to breakfast, which was served from 7:00 to 9:00.

There was a variety of breads, cold cuts, cheese, occasionally some ham, eggs in different styles now and then, muesli, yoghurt, tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers. You could choose between tea or coffee – and the coffee wasn’t bad at all.

Then more treatments would follow. These could include various types of light therapy, exercise classes or fitness sessions. There were also water treatments and electrotherapy. In addition, there were regular lectures on topics like “Healthy Eating” or “Stress Reduction.”

Lunch was served from 11:30 to 13:30.

Both at lunch and dinner, you could choose between two menus, one of which was always vegetarian. There was a salad buffet with various options and usually two different soups. Dessert was served daily, though personally I often found it too sweet.

The food in general was okay, but nothing special. Fans of hearty dishes would likely enjoy it, while those who prefer lighter fare might be disappointed.

After lunch, there were more therapies and treatments. The last one was usually around 5:00 p.m.

On Saturdays and public holidays, the afternoons were free; Sundays were entirely free. In any case, there was always enough free time to relax by the pool or explore the beautiful surroundings. On free afternoons or Sundays, we could even take longer trips.

Most days, I had between three and eight treatments or therapies.

Outside of the scheduled treatments, you could use the fitness centre anytime and the pool from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Every Wednesday and Friday at 6:00 p.m., we received our plans for the next three days.

Dinner was served between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.

Every Monday, there was a dance evening at the bar. It was a very enjoyable change of pace and a great opportunity to meet lovely people. For me, the dance night was one of the weekly highlights.

There were also usually two guided hikes per week, such as the “Three Lakes Tour”, which we had already done and loved during our Salzkammergut holiday in 2021.

I personally spent most of my free time either in the fitness room, often in the pool – especially when the weather was nice and I could read in the sun – or occasionally exploring the area. (There will be a separate blog about that.)

In the evenings, I usually stayed in my room, working on my blogs or watching TV, all while enjoying the birdsong outside my balcony.

Most nights I went to sleep around 10:00 – much earlier than I do at home. Sometimes, though, I’d read in bed or watch a video.
