Tag 3: Lumpini Park and Rachada Night Market
Now the third day in Bangkok had already begun. After two eventful days, we wanted to take it easier today.
We really took our time enjoying the excellent breakfast at the hotel. There was something for every taste, both for lovers of Western and of Southeast Asian cuisine.
Afterwards, we visited the Hard Rock Café, mainly because my son is a big fan of the classic T-shirts and has already built up an impressive collection over the years.
After that, we treated ourselves to a fabulous coffee in a cosy little café. The aroma of the beans was in the air, and the ambiance made us forget time for a moment.
Next, we headed to Lumpini Park. I had read about the monitor lizards living there but never expected to see so many.
These animals can grow up to two meters long and simply stroll through the park or lie lazily in the sun. You also frequently see these fascinating creatures in the park's pond.
We really liked Lumpini Park because, in the middle of this hectic city, it radiates incredible calm. We strolled for hours through this green oasis and enjoyed the pleasant atmosphere.
After lunch and a visit to 7/11, where we stocked up on water and supplies for the long journey to Cambodia the next day, we spent the afternoon at the hotel pool again.
In the evening, we visited Rachada Night Market, which I had heard a lot of good things about, but which disappointed us all the more.
There was absolutely nothing going on, hardly any visitors, everything was heavily overpriced, hardly any food — what a shame.
However, just a few meters from the Rachada Market was Jodd Fairs Night Market, which we immediately fell in love with. It was well attended but not overcrowded.
There was the smell of delicious food in the air, and they sold whatever the heart desires—from clothes to accessories, jewelry, bags, and souvenirs of all kinds. I can only highly recommend this market.
We spent several hours at this lively market. A wonderful end to a great stay in Bangkok.
While we drove back to the hotel, anticipation for the next adventure mixed with a slight melancholy — Bangkok had captured us, but the next morning it was time to continue: Cambodia was already waiting for us.
