Day 3: Morro Jable

The next morning, I woke up with terrible headaches and body aches. We had actually planned a tour along the coast heading north, but I didn’t feel able to take even five steps.

Though I accompanied my partner to breakfast, I went back to bed afterward and stayed there all morning.

In the afternoon, I finally started feeling better. So we decided to at least drive into the center of Morro Jable to take a closer look at the town we were staying in.

Morro Jable is a charming little coastal village. It consists of a long shopping street lined with shops, cafés, and restaurants.

Since there are many hotels nearby, the town is well adapted to tourists. Still, you can tell that it originally developed from a fishing village and wasn’t – like so many others – artificially built for tourism. Everything feels quite authentic. Many Spaniards who work in the surrounding hotels live here.

At the lower end of the shopping street, you come to the lovely seaside promenade. There are also many cafés, bars, restaurants, and souvenir shops here.

Just behind it begins the beautiful light-colored sandy beach that stretches for many kilometers along the coast.

At one of the cafés, we had café con leche and treated ourselves to an ice cream on the terrace with a view of the sea.

We then returned to the hotel, where we went to bed early after dinner. After all, I wanted to be fully recovered for the next day.
