Sunrise on the Rooftop Terrace, a Day at the Beach, and a Visit to Holiday World
Our holiday was slowly coming to an end.
We wanted to spend the last few days mostly relaxing at the hotel, the pool, and the beach.
We got up very early and first walked up to the rooftop terrace. At least once, we wanted to enjoy the wonderful sunrise over the bay from up there.
We weren’t disappointed. The sky turned the most beautiful colours as the sun slowly rose above the horizon.
After this spectacle, we prepared breakfast on the terrace as we usually did.
We spent the rest of the day relaxing by the pool and on the beach. I read my book, floated on my air mattress, and of course, the beach ball made another appearance.
It was a thoroughly successful day.
But we had saved the highlight for the evening—the amusement park “Holiday World” in Maspalomas.
It was already dark when we arrived.
First, we treated ourselves to a delicious dinner at one of the restaurants—beach days always make you especially hungry.
Then we dived into the fun.
The park isn’t very big, but it offers a good selection of attractions. Besides the usual Ferris wheel, roller coaster, and bumper cars, you can also ride wild plastic bulls—which is incredible fun.
Numerous restaurants ensure no one goes hungry. Inside a hall, there’s a “6D cinema”, several bowling alleys, arcade games, car simulators, and much more. There’s something for everyone.
As in the water park, I stuck to the tamer rides, while my beloved child, of course, tried everything.
All three of us tried to stay on the wild bulls—I was the only one who managed, not because I’m better at riding, but because I was so tense and stiff sitting on those plastic animals—as I said, I’m a bit of a scaredy-cat.
We rode the Ferris wheel together—the view from the top is always spectacular.
We also tried out the car simulators and the game tables and had loads of fun.
It was long past midnight when we finally returned to the hotel.
The next day, we spent another full day in the dunes and on the beach of Maspalomas.
Soaking up the sun and the sea one last time before heading home.
Eventually, the day of departure came. We got up early and packed our luggage into the car. Then we set off toward the airport.
First, we returned the car that had taken us on so many beautiful adventures. Then we treated ourselves to breakfast.
The flight itself was pleasant—though five hours is quite a long time.
Finally, we landed back home. We will definitely visit Gran Canaria again.
