Day 1: A Day at the Spa

This year, we wanted to celebrate Easter in a very relaxed way. That’s why we decided on a wellness weekend at our favorite thermal spa: the SA-RA Termálfürdő in Hegykő.

We left home at about noon and reached our cozy little guesthouse just over an hour later.

After checking into our room, we immediately headed to the spa.

I had fallen madly in love with this thermal bath more than 20 years ago during my very first visit.

I love the large green area with its beautiful, colorful flower beds—there’s always plenty of space.

The hot pools are perfect for relaxing and warming up the old bones, especially in winter. The large sports pool is ideal for swimming a few laps in summer.

We usually stay indoors only during the winter months.

We did our usual round through all the pools, and luckily, even the sports pool was already open—even though it was only the end of March. My partner finds the water too cold there, but I think it’s perfect for swimming.

Afterwards, we ordered something to eat at the restaurant. Swimming really does make you hungry.

Since it was Easter, the area around the restaurant was decorated with Easter-themed items. It gave the whole place a special touch. It’s often the little things that make all the difference.

In the evening, we had actually planned to visit our favorite restaurant, but unfortunately, it was fully booked. So we opted for a nearby pizzeria that we remembered from a previous visit.

We ordered delicious Spaghetti Carbonara and Spaghetti Frutti di Mare. Both dishes were excellent.
