Day 2: A Scooter Tour Along the Coast to Petrovac, a Boat Trip, and Sveti Stefan

The next morning, we got up early, because today we would receive our scooter, with which we planned to explore this beautiful country over the next days.

First, we enjoyed the wonderful hotel breakfast, which truly left nothing to be desired.

There were various types of bread, warm dishes, ham, cheese, and many regional specialties.

There was also a generous selection of sweet dishes, though I ate only a little, as I don’t particularly enjoy sweet breakfasts.

From the restaurant terrace, we once again had a wonderful view across the promenade to the sea glittering in the sun.

Then it was finally time. With a bit of delay, our scooter was delivered.

We set off immediately. The coastal road ran directly behind the hotel, and we simply followed it for the time being.

Our first destination was actually a waterfall. However, since the path there was not signposted, we managed to find only the upper part but saw no descent downwards anywhere.

So we soon continued on our way.

Again and again, we were rewarded with spectacular views of the gorgeous coastline and its small bathing coves with turquoise water inviting visitors to swim and sunbathe.

Eventually, we reached the charming coastal town of Petrovac. The small village lay picturesquely in one of the coves below the coastal road. It was love at first sight for us.

We first strolled along the pretty promenade lined with souvenir shops, restaurants, and cafés.

At the end of the promenade lay a small ruin from which we enjoyed a magnificent view of the bay.

The water shimmered in an extraordinary shade of turquoise, and numerous boats bobbed on the waves, waiting for tourists.

One of the boat operators approached us to ask whether we were interested in a boat tour. When he promised a swimming stop as well, he had me hooked! So we decided to go—and did not regret it for a second.

We set out in a very small group—on board were only us, the boat operator, and a Russian family—heading toward the small, rocky island with the church of Sveti Nedjelja perched on top.

We docked there. While Gerhard climbed up to the church with the others, I decided to go for a swim.

The water here was crystal clear and wonderfully cool. I enjoyed swimming between the rugged rocks, catching occasional glimpses back toward Petrovac. It was a unique experience.

We continued on to a cave. There, you could clearly see the layers where the rocks had once folded—absolutely fascinating. A piece of geology you could practically touch!

After just over an hour, the boat tour was already finished.

We treated ourselves to cold drinks in Petrovac, and then it was time to head back.

Along the way, we stopped at a viewpoint offering a breathtaking view of the famous island of Sveti Stefan.

The island, which once housed a small fishing village, was converted into a hotel island many years ago and is now accessible only to exclusive guests.

But the view was absolutely worth it! From here, we could overlook not only the island itself but large parts of the bay.

Finally, we continued on to Budva. This beautiful city with its Venetian architecture captivated us immediately.

Budva is one of the oldest towns on the Adriatic and was founded 2,500 years ago.

Every stone in this fascinating city seems to tell the story of its long past.

Although the town is now heavily shaped by tourism, it has still retained much of its original charm.

Fascinated, we wandered through the narrow, picturesque streets of the old town. It was simply beautiful.

The citadel, located directly by the sea, was particularly impressive.

In a small bakery, we treated ourselves to a very late lunch—more of a snack, as we actually wanted to save our appetite for the evening.

Finally, we also walked a bit along the harbor, where numerous boats and even large yachts were moored.

Then we made our way back to the hotel, where we ended the evening by the pool.

We relaxed in and around the water, ordered some food, and eventually enjoyed the magnificent sunset over the Bay of Budva.
