Day 1: Breakfast in Ybbs and Arrival in Sankt Georgen
Just like two years ago, we once again set off with the scooter for the beautiful Salzkammergut. This time, however, we had planned the trip well in advance and had booked accommodation early enough.
We left early in the morning, intending to have breakfast along the way. After about an hour of driving, we started to feel hungry.
So we left the motorway at Ybbs. Right by the Danube, we discovered a beautiful hotel restaurant where breakfast was served.
There was fresh bread, ham, cheese, jam, tomatoes, cucumbers, coffee, and orange juice. We enjoyed it while gazing out at the flowing river.
Our journey continued on the motorway, but due to a traffic jam, we had to exit just before St. Valentin. We continued on the main road through beautiful landscapes. It was incredibly hot that day, almost 40 degrees, but fortunately, we didn't feel the heat too much while riding.
In the early afternoon, we finally reached Sankt Georgen im Attergau, where we had booked a cosy room in a historic inn.
In the garden, there was a large pool – the main reason we had chosen this accommodation.
After freshening up, we immediately jumped into the cool water. We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing in and around the pool, reading, resting, and looking forward to what we had planned for the coming days.
In the evening, we got hungry again. So we decided to take the scooter to Attersee, just 5 km away. Along the lake, there are several very good restaurants and inns.
We stopped at a restaurant that was particularly picturesquely situated on a hill above the lake and decided to eat there. The food was fabulous, the view stunning.
It was a very pleasant, balmy evening. So we decided to take a ride around the lake. By then, the sun was already very low.
That evening by the lake remains unforgettable. The surrounding mountains were reflected in the water as the sun slowly disappeared behind them.
It was already dark when we got back to the hotel. We were quite tired, so we went to bed early.
