Day 3: Feldkirch
The next morning, it was time to say goodbye to Innsbruck. Early, we made our way to the train station. Our destination was Feldkirch in Vorarlberg.
A little over two hours later, we arrived at the station of this town on the border with Liechtenstein.
We headed straight towards the old town, known for its medieval cobblestone streets.
Along the way, we repeatedly caught glimpses of Schattenburg, which impressively towers over the city.
At the central square, we stopped at one of the many cozy cafés and ordered a small breakfast.
Though no Christmas market was open anymore in Feldkirch, the lights and decorations were still up. A large Christmas tree also stood on the main square. So we still felt a touch of Christmas atmosphere here.
The historic half-timbered houses are especially pretty and give the town a unique charm.
The market street with its arcade houses is particularly worth seeing. You can literally feel the centuries-old history in the city walls.
While we were still admiring the historic buildings enthusiastically, the rain grew heavier.
Since it was already afternoon, we decided to return to the train station and take the next train home.
On the train, we ordered a delicious dinner in the dining car and watched the Vorarlberg landscape pass by in the twilight. Then it got dark. After five hours of travel, we were back home, delighted with many new impressions
