Day 1: Arrival and a day on the lake
It was the first year of the pandemic, and trips abroad were only possible to a very limited extent. In general, tourist activities had been almost taboo for nearly half a year.
In this situation, my brother’s invitation to visit him and his children at Lake Wörthersee came at just the right time.
However, since I always need a certain amount of personal space, my partner and I booked a cozy room in a nice little guesthouse. My son wanted to sleep at his uncle’s with his cousins.
Early in the morning, we set off in the direction of Klagenfurt. Contrary to expectations, the roads were almost empty, so we arrived much earlier than expected.
First, we all had breakfast together on my brother’s terrace. We hadn’t seen each other for a long time and had a lot to talk about.
Later, we drove to our hotel and checked in. The small guesthouse was idyllically located on a hill near Pörtschach. It was surrounded by a large garden, which also had a pool. From our balcony, we had a beautiful panoramic view over the entire area down to the lake.
We first unpacked our suitcase. Then we relaxed a bit in the pool.
In the afternoon, we drove back to the others, ordered pizza, and enjoyed a wonderful lunch together.
We spent the afternoon on the lake in my brother’s boat. We headed out onto the water.
Near a small island, the Kapuzinerinsel, we stopped for a swim break. The water was pleasantly refreshing and crystal clear.
We swam a few laps around the island and relaxed in the boat. Then we drove along the shore and admired the beautiful scenery.
