Day 1 – Arrival
The alarm clock rang at 4:00 a.m. But tiredness played only a minor role, as we were already very excited about today’s journey. We were heading to northern Germany.
Two hours later, we set off and arrived in Postoloprty, Czech Republic, just three hours later. Since the village was on our route, I wanted to make a stop there.
Some of my maternal ancestors once lived here. I had already visited the place with my parents in the early 1990s. Back then, we found the family grave.
So today, we headed straight to the cemetery again. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find the grave this time. Too much time had probably passed.
We stretched our legs a bit in the village and admired the pretty parish church, then we continued on our way.
Shortly after 7:00 p.m., we finally reached our final destination: the Stedener Forst, where our friends—whom we had met some years ago in Turkey—were already waiting for us.
We stayed in a caravan that belonged to some acquaintances and which they had kindly made available to us for our stay.
We had two narrow but comfortable beds, a living area, and a large awning.
In the awning, we were able to make coffee. Our friends had stocked the fridge well with drinks.
Behind the caravan stood a cabin that housed a large, modern bathroom.
After we had unpacked, we spent the rest of the evening with our friends, catching up on all the latest news.
Exhausted, we finally fell into bed.
