Day 3 – Bremen

The next morning we had breakfast in our caravan. At 11:00 a.m., we met our friends for some shopping. I especially wanted to visit a drugstore chain that doesn’t exist back home.

Afterwards, we went to a Chinese restaurant, where we enjoyed a fantastic lunch buffet. There was a wide selection—something for every taste.

After lunch, we finally headed to Bremen. I had been looking forward to visiting this city for a long time, as I had only heard good things about it.

We parked in a parking garage near the cathedral.

Our first stop was the Schnoor Quarter, famous for its narrow alleys and romantic little spots.

The Schnoor is the oldest quarter in Bremen. The houses date back to the 15th to 18th centuries. It was once home to craftsmen and fishermen.

This district did not disappoint. Idyllic medieval houses are nestled closely together. Numerous souvenir shops, restaurants, and cafés await visitors.

I particularly liked the half-timbered houses so typical for this area—many of them even had thatched roofs.

As beautiful as the area is, there were also many people about—it’s certainly no hidden gem.

After strolling through the alleys for quite a while, it was time for the next highlight of the city: the marketplace.

This square impresses with its size and architecture. The most important buildings are the town hall and the cathedral, which originally dates back to the 11th century.

On the marketplace you’ll also find the “Roland,” a statue of a knight with a shield and sword, and a symbol of Bremen. The statue has stood here since the 15th century and represents the freedom and city rights of Bremen.

At one of the many cafés on the marketplace, we treated ourselves to a delicious ice cream Sunday.

Of course, we also had to pay a visit to the famous Bremen Town Musicians.

I’ve always loved fairy tales, so seeing them was one of the highlights of my visit

Then we strolled a little through the charming shopping streets of Bremen.

Finally, it was time to return.

In the evening, we had invited our friends over for dinner. We ended the evening comfortably in the awning of our caravan. The weather had been wonderful all day, and even now, late in the evening, it was still pleasantly warm.
