A Rainy Day

An unusual sound woke me up that morning. Yes, it really was raindrops pattering against our window.

My first impulse was to turn over and go back to sleep, but since our stomachs soon started to rumble lightly, we got up and got ready for breakfast.

Breakfast was wonderful as always, and the veil of rain created an unprecedented, especially romantic atmosphere.

What do you do when it rains? You go shopping. Since we had planned to go to Avsallar in the next few days anyway to buy souvenirs, we decided to do so today.

A few minutes later, we were in town, where we, of course, first stopped at our favorite café.

By now, it was raining so heavily that it felt almost like the end of the world had come.

Vendors quickly took their goods to safety, people fled from the terraces of the cafés inside.

Then the thunderstorm started. Bright lightning lit up the cloud-covered sky, and thunder crashed fearsomely.

We fled from one shop to another, bought some things until it was finally time to return to the hotel.

While the lightning flashed above us, we walked more than we ran along the street. Enormously relieved, we finally reached the hotel.

There, we continued our shopping tour in the hotel’s own shop.

Then it was time for lunch. That was wonderful again.

By now, the rain had stopped and the sun was slowly making its way through the thick clouds.

We decided to take a walk along the beach, which turned out to be the right choice.

The air was so clear after the rain, the beach deserted—we had never seen it like this before.

We walked to the end of the bay and thus got a good first impression of the hotels in the area.

This was a really pleasent walk.

Only in the late afternoon did we return to the hotel, where we rested briefly in the room and then got ready for the evening.

The evening went as usual; surprisingly, we could already sit outside again and enjoy the day’s show.
