Day 2 – Old Town, Lake, and a View

The next morning, we set out to explore the old town around Bahnhofstrasse, one of the most exclusive shopping streets in the world. Once again, there were numerous romantic little lanes that wanted to be explored.

We had breakfast at the famous Sprüngli patisserie. In addition to the obligatory coffee, I also tried the hot chocolate, which was simply phenomenal.

At the in-house shop, we bought a few treats made of Swiss chocolate.

The tour continued through the beautiful old town, where we passed historic buildings and small shops that offered regional specialties.

Then we made our way to Lake Zurich, where we had planned a boat trip.

It was the end of December, and too cold to stay outside on deck the whole time, so we found a cozy spot inside the boat right by one of the large windows.

The boat glided slowly over the water, and we had a fantastic view of the shoreline and the Alps behind it the entire time. Now and then, I stepped out onto the deck to take photos and enjoy the cool breeze.

As it was around noon , we ordered some delicious rolls filled with ham, cheese, and various vegetables.

Almost three hours later, we docked back in Zurich.

We took the tram to the Fluntern Cemetery, where numerous famous people are buried, including James Joyce.

The cemetery lay beautifully on the Zürichberg, overlooking the entire city, with well-kept graves – the perfect place for eternal rest.

Near the cemetery, we found a large park featuring sculptures of various fairy tale characters.

Not far from there, we visited the headquarters of FIFA – a must for football fans.

It was already dark by the time we returned to the city.

We strolled along the brightly lit Bahnhofstrasse, which exuded a magical atmosphere in the glow of countless lights. At a supermarket, we picked up a few groceries and ended the evening comfortably in the hotel lounge with a wonderful view of the river.
