The Last Week
The last week flew by. By then, a certain routine had settled into my therapy schedule, and the excitement of the new had given way to a sense of familiarity.
Since the weather was very hot, I spent the breaks between treatments by the pool, enjoying the cool water and the relaxation in this wonderful setting.
Every other day I also went to the fitness center, as I really enjoyed working out on the machines.
On Tuesday afternoon, I decided to finally complete the path I had already explored during my first week.
So I walked to the wooden hut I already knew, and from there the path continued straight ahead—first across a large meadow, then through a stretch of forest.
Here, an unexpected surprise awaited me: a sculpture park.
All along the path, sculptures had been placed at intervals, and there was also an information board.
There were wooden sculptures and others made of metal, all of them fascinating to look at.
I didn’t follow the entire trail, though, but instead turned right toward Bad Mitterndorf.
The path continued across another meadow and over a small bridge that crossed the Salza River.
Eventually, I reached the main road again—right where the Barefoot Park is located.
The Barefoot Park is a parcours with several stations that, as the name suggests, are meant to be walked barefoot.
There are hanging bridges, balancing challenges, a Kneipp stream, and numerous other attractions.
Since several families with children were there at the time, I just had a quick look around before continuing on my way.
After strolling along the main road for a few meters, I came across a promenade path that led to the town center.
I followed it for about another 20 minutes until I reached a fork: straight ahead would lead to the center, while the path to the right led to a supermarket.
Since I had already visited the center several times, I opted for the supermarket instead, where I treated myself to an ice cream. Then I started heading back.
This time, I chose the shorter route along the main road.
It took me about 40 minutes to return to the hotel, where I quickly took a shower and then had dinner in the restaurant.
Now only two days remained, and I was already feeling a bit melancholic. I had really enjoyed my stay here. At the same time, I was starting to look forward to going home—and, of course, to our next holiday, which was already planned for ten days later.
