Trip to Italy
The next day, we set off for Trieste full of anticipation, where we first treated ourselves to breakfast with wonderful coffee and crispy pistachio croissants. Nowhere does cappuccino taste better than in Italy!
We then strolled through the beautiful alleys of this city, which we had visited many times before. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t ideal—it rained on and off—but that didn’t dampen our good mood.
When the sun finally broke through the clouds again, we enjoyed another cappuccino at the harbor and took in the view over the entire bay.
We walked along the canal, did a bit of shopping —my favorite cosmetics brand has a branch in Trieste, so I couldn’t resist, of course.
After our city stroll, we drove up into the Karst to Borgo Grotta Gigante, where we had lunch at one of our favorite Osmize.
The food there is simple: prosciutto, various kinds of cheese and vegetables—all home-produced and incredibly delicious.
A short digestive walk was then needed. The surroundings of the village are truly beautiful.
Our tour continued to our beloved Muggia, a small Italian harbor town, where we had coffee in one of the charming old-town alleys and treated ourselves to a delicious ice cream while we soaked up the atmosphere and enjoyed the Italian dolce vita.
Lastly, we also visited Poreč, a lovely town on the Croatian coast.
By then, however, it had started raining heavily again, so after a very brief tour of the charming old town, we took refuge in the nearest café.
We ended the evening back at our hotel, sitting cozily on the terrace looking out over the sea while the raindrops pattered down from the sky.
