San Fernando
The next morning, we first wanted to get our shopping done. Since we had an apartment, we planned to cook ourselves at least once or twice, of course using fresh, regional ingredients.
Our destination was San Fernando, a place just behind the coast. You only meet a few tourists there; the small town belongs to the Spaniards. Many people who work in the hotels and shops live here.
This is precisely why I love San Fernando. Here you still find the authentic Spanish way of life.
First, we picked a nice little bar where we ordered breakfast.
Tostadas and Café con leche—nothing could be better.
Then we headed to the local supermarket, where we stocked up on Spanish delicacies.
We decided to spend the afternoon simply at the beach.
Playa de San Agustin is small; it can’t compete with Playa del Ingles, but it is genuine and authentic. You rarely hear German; the beach is filled with Spanish families. And to me, that is exactly what gives this beach its charm.
We spent the rest of the day there—reading on the beach, swimming in the water and just happy to be here again.
It was a wonderful beach day.
